Well, my stint as a freeloader is coming to an end. Maybe. Ever since I got back from Copenhagen, I haven't been working on building the new website as much as I'd hoped (or promised, depending on how you look at it). Some of it was due to the fact that I didn't have any internet connection out in Brooks, but even since I got DSL at the new place, I still haven't really been working on it. The auction business is quite slow at the moment, so dad has nothing to focus on except for my inability to show him any sign of progress. He feels that I'm no longer interested in the business and that he might do better having my older brother, Bo, take care of building a site for him. A while ago he was even considering going to one of those outfits in India that will build and maintain a website at cut throat prices. I can just imagine dad trying to do business with an Indian. The mental picture is just way too funny. He's such a fucking bigot that the first time he couldn't get something changed immediately, he'd be cussing out those "goddamn ragheads", as he's fond of calling our friends to the East. Dad wants me to come in tomorrow morning for a company meeting where we'll discuss, amongst other things, my need to get going on the website. I think I'll do my best to be tactful tomorrow and even humble myself to accept his brand of criticism without letting it get to me too much. I don't want to piss away the opportunity to make some money building and maintaining one little website. God knows I'm gonna need all the cash I can get my grubby little hands on while I'm in school. I don't know what's up with my recent bout of extreme laziness. I really do enjoy working on the site. I got my library card today! Yippee! I'm so excited. The Sacramento Central library is just down the street from me. It's four stories tall and has quite a selection. The first book I checked out was set of novels by William Faulkner. I'm mainly interested in reading "As I Lay Dying", but if it appeals to me, I'll read the rest. By the way, if you haven't seen Harold and Maude (which would mean that I'm NOT the last person on the planet to watch it), do it now. What a great movie! It was so strange to watch a feel-good movie about death and dying. I don't often purchase movies, but I think I may make an exception with this one. I need help finding some creative ideas for banners, signs, slogans, whatever for the February 16th peace rally in San Francisco. Hopefully it's not too late...
